Head of Contract Manufacturing, Xellia Pharmaceuticals

The position

To head up Contract Manufacturing, Xellia Pharmaceuticals is currently seeking a seasoned Supply Chain leader, who can work with both strategic, tactical and operational issues. The Head of Contract Manufacturing will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the contract manufacturing team within Xellia as well as developing Xellia’s strategic approach to contract manufacturing.

The specific areas of responsibility and tasks include:

 

  • Leading and managing a team of Contract Manufacturing managers and production/logistics planners
  • Developing and implementing cross functional processes towards internal andexternal stakeholders
  • Managing and following up on supply chain activities, such as price negotiations, forecasting and production orders and release
  • Developing and managing supply agreements
  • Supporting R/D and launch activities at contract manufacturers
  • Drive best total cost of ownership, quality and service level
  • Interact and build relationships on strategic, tactical and operational level in Xellia and with contract manufacturers

 

The position is new and the team is in the process of being established. Currently the team consists of 2 contract manufacturing managers - one in India and one in Denmark.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate has a masters-level degree in business, engineering or similar, ideally with an emphasis on supply chain management.

Some of the key qualifications for the role include:

 

  • Combined technical and commercial background from the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry – or possibly from another similarly regulated
  • production industry
  • Experience with complex contract manufacturing operations
  • Solid and broad understanding of supply chain management
  • Solid project management experience

 

On a personal level, some keywords for the ideal candidate include

 

  • Analytical skills and a strong sense of professional judgement
  • Proactive and structured working style and good ability to prioritise own activities as well as those of others
  • A hands-on operational style of leadership and yet able to lead without micromanaging
  • Strong interpersonal skills that ensure excellent collaboration with both Xellia’s customers and contract manufacturers
  • Ability to handle complexity and drive strategic change
  • Ability to navigate effectively at senior organisational levels and in a diverse and international environment.
