Seeking a talented and resourceful finance director who wants to be part of building and running a +10 billion DKK state-of-the-art plant to produce net zero CO2 aviation fuel. Be part of shaping an ambitious and entrepreneurial culture, work with top-tier banks and investors and be at the forefront of the clean-energy transformation of the aviation industry.
Our client is Arcadia, who are currently building one of the world’s first eFuels plants dedicated to produce net zero CO2 eSAF for the Aviation industry. Having recently closed investor funding for development capital and an early investor at plant level, the first plant is currently nearing FID for construction in Vordingborg, Denmark and is targeted to be operational in 2028. More sites are in the pipeline and Arcadia is committed to build, own, and operate these plants together with investors and industrial partners.
The position
Reporting to the Plant Manager of the Vordingborg site, the Finance Director will be focused on closing debt and equity funding, managing the construction milestones and budgets, and prepare the company’s ERP system, financial policies and financial organization for a successful start-up in 2028.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with best-in-class internal resources across the world as well as external partners, including tier 1 banks, investors, funds and expert partners. Besides leading all finance activities in the Danish entity (and leading the finance organization once you get this established and operational), you will also be an integral part of a finance community.
The core responsibilities in this role include:
- Investor Relations & Stakeholder Management:
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with lenders, investors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates and reports to investors, ensuring their confidence in the company’s financial health and progress.
- Construction & Project Oversight:
- Oversee the management of construction milestones, payments, and fund releases related to the Vordingborg plant construction project.
- Policy, Compliance & Risk Management:
- Collaborate with Arcadia US Inc’s Finance team as well as local accountants and tax consultants to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company’s tax position and ensure compliance with local, national, and international tax regulations.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Financial Planning & Budget Management:
- Oversee the company’s financial planning and ensure adherence to budgets.
- Maintain and refine comprehensive financial models to support strategic decision-making.
- Audit & Contracts Management:
- Manage the financial audit process, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.
- Support financial advisor with negotiations and lead management of all debt and equity contracts, maintaining transparent and beneficial terms.
- Oversee contract management to ensure compliance with terms and alignment with company objectives.
- ERP System Implementation:
- Develop and implement a detailed roadmap for the ERP system, ensuring its alignment with company operations and goals.
- Cash & Treasury Management:
- Manage cash flow, including cash forecasting and liquidity management.
- Oversee the company’s treasury operations, including banking relationships and investment strategies.
- Optimize the company’s cash position and ensure efficient use of capital.
- Debt Management:
- Oversee debt management activities, including monitoring debt covenants and repayment schedules.
- Develop strategies for effective debt financing and refinancing to support the company’s growth and financial stability.
The Danish organization is currently budding – and so your job will in the beginning range from very strategic to very operational. Your closest colleagues will be working out of Vordingborg and you should expect to be on-site anywhere from 2-3 days a week with the opportunity to work from home or elsewhere the rest of the time.
Ideal profile
As ideal candidate for the role, you have a relevant degree in finance or business as well as 10 or more years of relevant experience, including preferably a significant part of your experience working with non-recourse project finance in large-scale infrastructure projects. You probably have experience working in a multinational corporate setting and ideally within some kind of manufacturing context. Since the Danish subsidiary of Arcadia is pre-revenue, it is also a great asset if you have experience working with international banks and investors – be they funds or otherwise. And finally, you should also have some experience in building and leading teams to high performance.
As a person you are probably characterized by:
- Independence: Ability to work independently, with a proactive and self-driven approach.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Efficiency & Urgency: Demonstrates an efficient working style with a strong sense of urgency and execution focus.
- Passion for Sustainability: A strong commitment to the green transition and sustainable practices.
- Growth Mindset: Open to continuous learning and improvement, with a passion for innovation and growth.
As Arcadia is still evolving, division of responsibilities are continuously developing and so collaboration and flexibility is also crucial. You’ll do great if you enjoy working in an agile environment where everyone strives to adapt and adjust along the way. And where you may face novel situations where the path is not clear and has not been tried before.
